Bollinger Special Cuvée 007 Limited Edition

Bollinger Champagne was founded in 1829 and has since then become one of the most respected symbols of quality, luxury and life in the fast lane. One of the reasons of that is because of the appearance in James Bond movies. Which was a bit of a random collaboration. The idea came when a member of the family of the producers of the film was dining with a member of the Bollinger family. Then the rest is history. Bollinger is one of the safest choices when it comes to the Pinot Noir grape in Champagne. Most of the house's cuvées contain 2/3 Pinot Noir or more, and basically all the different cuvées from Bollinger belong to the exclusive group of full-bodied and intense Champagnes. The reason for the high amount of Pinot Noir is because of the location. They are located in Aÿ where the grapes mostly are Pinot Noir

Also this Cuvee Special Brut, which is the house's base champagne, although between 75 and 80% of the grape material is sourced from parcels with Grand Cru or Premier Cru status. Despite its name, Special Cuvée is the house's "standard cuvée". Bollinger's style is unequivocally expressed in this rich and, for a standard cuvée, astonishingly complex champagne. One of the most powerful non-vintage champagnes ever made. And it is a great start for anybody who wants to learn more about champagne. But it is also a great champagne for a hardcore champagne lover. Bollinger Special Cuvée is always a safe choice.

This is a collaboration between James Bond (007) and Bollinger. A great gift or a fun bottle to have in the cellar. Even though it is just a "regular" champagne inside.

Comments from a tasting:

"Trademark Bollinger complexity with apples, brioche and grapefruit in a very subtly reductive style. The palate is super fine, even and elegant with a refreshing lemon, lime, light-berry and apple-brioche finish. Drink now"

92/100
