The 2018 vintage was an exceptional year in Champagne, marked by a warm and sunny growing season that produced grapes with impressive ripeness and concentration. After a challenging start to the year, a long, dry summer allowed the fruit to develop fully, resulting in a vintage with a generous and approachable character.
On the nose, 2018 is expressive and inviting, with ripe citrus, yellow fruit, plum and stone fruit alongside notes of brioche, almond and gentle spice. The fruit feels generous rather than sharply defined, giving the wine a warm and rounded aromatic profile.
The palate is smooth, rich and beautifully rounded, with ripe fruit balanced by enough freshness to keep the wine lively. Notes of plum, citrus and ripe stone fruit are complemented by toasted brioche and a subtle saline character. Compared with the 2017 vintage, the 2018 feels slightly sweeter and softer, making it particularly approachable for those discovering Dom Pérignon for the first time.
Texturally generous and polished, the 2018 Vintage showcases a softer and more accessible side of Dom Pérignon. Smoothness and richness take centre stage, while the underlying freshness and structure provide balance. It is an immediately enjoyable vintage, with the depth and concentration to develop further with age.
