The 2017 vintage brought its share of challenges, but the vineyards in Aÿ delivered beautifully balanced fruit with excellent freshness and elegance. The season produced Champagnes with great precision, lively acidity, and plenty of character, making it a vintage that shines through finesse rather than power.
This Special Club Blanc de Blancs 2017 is something truly special. Made from 100% Grand Cru Chardonnay from Aÿ, it is a rare sight in a village best known for its Pinot Noir. Even more exclusive, only 1,000 bottles were produced, making this one of Henri Goutorbe's most limited releases.
The nose is fresh and inviting, with aromas of citrus, white peach, crisp green apple, fresh flowers, and a touch of brioche. On the palate, it is elegant and beautifully balanced, combining vibrant freshness with a creamy texture and a long, mineral finish. The Chardonnay brings purity and finesse, while the unique terroir of Aÿ adds depth and a subtle richness that makes this cuvée stand out.

Special Club Champagne, also known as the Club de Trésors or Club of Treasures, represents the best classification for grower Champagnes. This club was established back in 1971 as the Club de Viticulteurs Champenois with the purpose of evaluating and recognizing exceptional quality among specific Champagne growers. The small producers worked together to produce a specially made glass bottle for their best vintages. And they only choose their best vintages to be put in Special Club bottles.
