José Michel Grand Vintage 2015
José Michel Grand Vintage 2015
Extra brut, Bottled May 2016, Disgorged March 2023
Grand Vintage is José Michel’s traditional vintage cuvée, made only in select years that show both ripeness and structure. The 2015 edition is based on a classic blend of Meunier and Chardonnay two varieties that define the estate’s identity in the southern Vallée de la Marne.
The fruit comes from old vines in Moussy and surrounding villages, with fermentation in stainless steel and long aging on the lees. Bottled in spring 2016 and disgorged in December 2023, this Champagne spent over 7 years sur lie, developing depth and complexity. Dosage is 3,5 g/L. 2000 bottles made.
2015 was a warm and expressive year, and it shows in the wine: generous fruit, notes of yellow apple and dried citrus, and a broad, mouth-coating texture. But there's still lift and energy, thanks to the estate’s restrained winemaking and natural acidity from the chalk-rich soils.
A quietly confident vintage Champagne mature, open, and well balanced that captures both the character of the year and the signature style of José Michel.
