Prémices is José Michel’s signature non-vintage cuvée and a clear introduction to the estate’s style: ripe fruit, low intervention, and long aging. This version, in Jeroboam (3L), is based on the 2016 harvest, blended with reserve wines from 2015 and 2014.
The blend is 70% Meunier and 30% Chardonnay, vinified without fining (non collé) or filtration (non filtré). The fruit comes from several villages: Moussy, Brugny, Saint-Agnan, and Brasles, all in the southern part of the Marne valley and Coteaux Sud d’Épernay.
Aged over 7.5 years on the lees, this Champagne was disgorged in January 2025 with a dosage of 5 g/L. It’s a Brut style but with depth and roundness.
Expect aromas of baked fruit, pastry, and light oxidation, balanced by mineral tension and a creamy mousse. A classic grower Champagne with serious aging and a generous format ideal for sharing.
